Since February 2021, IPA Zambia has been assisting the Ministry of General Education to undertake a survey to monitor the continuity of learning in schools amidst the COVID 19 pandemic. IPA Zambia provided technical assistance in developing the concept note and questionnaires for a nationwide survey that targeted Provincial Education Officers, Headteachers, Teachers, Learners, and Parents in over 400 schools. From May 24 to June 4, 2021, Policy Manager, Tamara Billima-Mulenga and Research and Data Associate, Mwiinga Cheelo, participated in a workshop as part of the Technical Working Group and provided data cleaning and analysis support to the Ministry. Among the outputs expected from the study is for the Ministry to understand the current learning environment of reduced learning hours, assess the utilization of Alternative Mode of Education Platforms after the reopening of schools, and the impact of the long closure on school enrolments. The support from IPA Zambia is part of the long-term support through the embedded lab for the Ministry to use research and data in designing specific programs and programs informed by evidence.
