On June 2 and June 8, IPA Philippines participated in two Policy Dialogue sessions hosted by the Department of Education (DepEd) Policy Research and Development Division (PRRD). On June 2, select Department of Education (DepEd) Central Office units joined the session and on June 8 select DepEd Regional Offices, Schools Division Offices, and schools participated. The policy dialogues explored potential options for effective distance learning modalities. IPA and Pratham India were invited to share learnings and experiences on implementing remote learning interventions to ensure continuity of learning during the pandemic. Insights from Pratham India and discussions about policy issues on remote learning will form part of the policy memo to be prepared by the DepEd PRRD. IPA Philippines Country Director Nassreena Sampaco-Baddiri spoke about the importance of using evidence to design programs and the need to integrate a learning agenda in DepEd's plans. IPA will continue to collaborate with DepEd by working to provide data and policy support in preparation for the opening of classes in late August 2020.
